We’re growing!

Boston Art Review is currently seeking the addition of a design assistant to help produce our biannual print publication as well as digital assets.

Founded in 2017, Boston Art Review is an online and print publication dedicated to facilitating discourse around contemporary art in the Greater Boston Area. Twice-yearly, we publish a print magazine and throughout the year we produce weekly listings of local events, online stories, events, and programs. In the coming year, BAR is collaborating with several community partners to expand our reach and provide even more opportunities for artists, writers, and our readers.

We are committed to telling the stories of our time, publishing diverse perspectives, uplifting underrepresented voices and contributing to a snapshot of this moment in our community. We prioritize inclusivity and intersectionality, we are non-hierarchical, and we operate with an artists-first approach. Boston Art Review’s current editorial team is composed of individuals who identify as artists, writers, and arts admins, but all backgrounds, experiences, and education levels are welcome.

Open Positions:

Design Assistant (Part Time / Paid)

Do you eat, sleep, and breathe in an InDesign document? Is frequenting the magazine section of a bookstore your favorite pastime? We’re looking for a junior graphic designer to join our team to assist with the layout of our print publication as well as the creation of assets for our digital platforms. This position has two major “on” periods per year, where you will work directly with our creative director on the production of the magazine. In between issue production, responsibilities will be relatively light or as needed. There is a lot of room to grow in this role! If you’ve always wanted to design a magazine and are up for working in a fast-paced, energetic environment, this opportunity is for you!
