Marcus Civin was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He received an MFA in Studio Art from the University of California, Irvine, and a BA in Theater from Brown University. In addition to BAR, his writing has appeared in Afterimage, Artforum, Art in America, Art Papers, Aufgabe, BOMB, The Brooklyn Rail, Camera Austria, Damn, Full Bleed, Maake, Plus, Prospect Art, and Sculpture, among other publications.
